Macbeth
Macbeth by William Shakespeare is a tragedy that explores themes of ambition, guilt, fate, and the supernatural, set in 11th-century Scotland.
This publication presents the first three scenes of Act 1, using a typographical approach to illustrate Macbeth and Lady Macbeth’s descent into madness and moral deterioration. It also looks at the influence of the supernatural in the story.
While many Macbeth-related designs use red, black, and white, I chose to explore green, which represents envy and sickness, and purple, which represents royalty. Both colours are also linked to the supernatural.
This publication is A3-sized. The large format represents the big decision that Macbeth made, which led to major consequences.
Through this publication, I aim to convey the timeless relevance of Macbeth as a cautionary tale about the dangers of unchecked ambition, moral compromise, and being swayed by fate or external temptation.
